What's the difference between different kinds of materials used for poker chips?
There are many different types of poker chips, however generally speaking for the purpose of this explanation I will categorise them into 4 categories. Plastic chips, Composite chips, Clay Composite chips & Cermaic Chips.
Plastic chips are composed entirely of plastic, weighing only a few grams, they are usually heard referred to as supermarket chips.
Composite chips are the most commonly used chips, and whilst can be composed from a range of different materials, most composite chips are made of a material called ABS (high impact strength plastic). Composite chips contain a metal insert to add weight, and generally between 11.5g - 14g. They are the next cheapest chip on the market to Plastic chips.
Clay composite chips are composed of clay plus some other materials, and sometimes metal inserts are added for extra weight. There is no such thing as a 100% pure clay poker chip. A pure clay chip would be so weak and brittle you would be able to snap it in half. That means that any clay chip is a Clay composite, even the casinos which use Clay chips, which are usually a clay-ceramic composite.
Ceramic chips are made from a high density ceramic polymer material, with single ceramic composition that contains no metal insert to add weight . Ceramic chips can weigh between 10g and 11g.
What is the advantages of getting Ceramic chips over the rest?
The quality of these chips are stunning. The material allows for high resolution images to be imprinted (direct sublimination printing method is used, not stickers) that appear very sharp and vivid. A feature quite unique is the apprearance of the rolling edge, which looks glossy almost like a lacquered finish, and with the choice of a nice design, which can be fully customisable, it will without a doubt add value the the overall chip. Also the feel of these chips is fantastic. They have the perfect texture, not too smooth, which allows for perfect stacking ability.

Can you tell me more about poker chips weights?
There is a myth chips that weigh 11.5g plus are better, but this could not be further from the truth. Let me explain why.History shows that 11.5g chips were introduced by accident and just so happened to be the weight that the chips came to when china manufacturers started adding metal inserts into plastic or abs composite chips. It was then that the manufacturers started branding them as the official casino weight to sell more and not knowing any better online stores followed suit. Since then there has been the introduction of even heavier chips at 12g, 13g, 14g and now 15g chips, that are being marketed as a more superior poker chip.
So should you believe that heavier chips equal better quality? Well we say this is just rediculous, we could make chips that weigh 20g or 25g, but this would hardly make them a better chip, it would just not be practical. I can tell you that the average weight of a Las Vegas poker chip is actually just below 10 grams, including the top casinos shown below.
How long will it take to receive my poker chips?
Once we have your artwork ready to print, all orders will ship within 2-3 weeks. If there are any delays, we will notify the customer.
Since all orders of ceramic chips, including stock designs, are printed on demand, the ship time for each order will be 2-3 weeks whether stock or custom. Occasionally, we will have excess stock design chips on hand so some orders will be able to ship much faster.
Is it easy to reorder more chips later at another time?
Yes, all artwork is permanently kept on file for future reorders. When you are ready to reorder, just order through our website as normal and let us know that you want to use your past artwork.
Will others be able to order my design?
No. Any custom artwork will not be able to be used by any other customer except for the customer originating the order. We respect the rights and security of our customers.
